Understand without exploiting vulnerability
Cultural context should help organizations respond with greater fluency and responsibility. It should not be used to identify or intensify personal vulnerability, fear or social pressure.
Culturas is being built to improve cultural understanding without turning vulnerability, identity or belonging into tools for manipulation. These principles guide our product design, research practice and the work we choose to support.
Cultural context should help organizations respond with greater fluency and responsibility. It should not be used to identify or intensify personal vulnerability, fear or social pressure.
Cultural interpretation should remain connected to source material, provenance and uncertainty. Observation and inference should be distinguishable rather than collapsed into a confident answer.
Public expression does not erase context. Research and product decisions should avoid exposing individuals, flattening communities or separating cultural signals from the circumstances that give them meaning.
Cultural intelligence can strengthen judgment, but it should not replace it. Consequential interpretations and higher-risk applications require human review, clear ownership and an ability to challenge the result.
These principles describe how we approach product and research decisions. They are not an exhaustive acceptable-use policy and do not replace the terms governing a specific engagement.
